Georgetown Art Installation

Students and staff returned from their holiday vacation to find a beautiful sculpture hanging in the rotunda.  Our upper elementary art classes have studied a gifted artist, Dale Chihuly, who makes beautiful sculptures from blown glass.  These pieces of art are on display throughout the world.

Mrs. Brouwer and 212 artists were so inspired by Chihuly’s work that they worked together to create a sculpture for our building.  Throughout the fall, they collected hundreds of clear plastic bottles that were then colored with permanent markers and then spiral cut.  The bottles,  onced glued to a PVC pipe (thank you Gemmen’s Hardware), created a majestic, stunning sculpture.  This is now hanging in our rotunda (the heart of our building) for all to enjoy.
