News from the office….

We are so glad the kids could get outside this week and enjoy the snow! We have been going over the “school snow rules” so everyone can be safe AND have fun!! The weeks are just flying by! We are already looking our next break in the eye! WOW!! Winter break is January 30-February 2, so there will be no school that Friday and Monday. Hopefully we can get out and do some of those outside activities we couldn’t do over the holiday break! We passed out the yearbooks as well and they were fun to look at! If you by chance forgot to order one, we do have a few extra in the office that you may purchase for $10. Call the office to get one if you still want one!! Have a wonderful weekend!!!

•  High school second trimester exams will be given on March 5 and 6.

•  Friday, March 6, 2015 will now be a regular day of attendance for all Hudsonville students.

•  Students will not report on Monday, March 9, 2015.

Community News….

  • Planning for Enrollment Growth

As some of you may be aware, in November Hudsonville Public Schools (the District) purchased Heritage Christian School’s current building.  To consider future possible uses of this building, the District is conducting a series of focus groups with randomly selected parents and staff as well as meeting with both student and community groups.  Additionally, the District will hold two Town Hall meetings open to the entire community.  These Town Hall meetings will take place on February 4 and February 5 at 7:00 PM in our High School Auditorium.  We are hopeful that many parents and community members will be able to hear the possibilities and participate in providing valued feedback.  If possible, please join us for this important discussion.

  • Hudsonville Community Members,

In 2011, you overwhelmingly approved a school bond to build a new competition pool and renovate our current pool/fitness facilities.  Renovation of our main high school campus will result in the following list of enhancements to the current pool and adjacent fitness areas: new family changing areas, new locker rooms, a new cardio fitness room, and an updated weight room.

Construction and demolition of our current pool/fitness facilities will begin Friday, April 3rd, 2015.  The timeline for completion of our new competitive swimming facility and renovations of our old competitive space will be the fall of 2015.  Demolition and construction will result in the temporary closure of the locker rooms with limited access to the pool.

Community morning and weekend events will be canceled.  Our A.M. lap, Saturday open swim, and morning community basketball will be canceled until the completion of the locker room area.  As a result of the spring and summer construction, we will postpone our swimming lesson programming for the summer of 2015.  Limited summer competitive programming will still remain while the pool area is being renovated.  Hudsonville Community Education will offer two sections of lessons in the winter and early spring to offset a reduction in other program offerings.

With the new and renovated spaces, we look forward to offering these fun activities:

  • A.M. open/lap swim

  • Saturday afternoon open swim

  • Noontime lap swim on weekdays

  • Adult water aerobics classes during the day

  • Swimming lessons during the week

  • Age Group Swim Team (HEAT)

  • USA swimming and diving

  • Masters swimming

  • Cardio and weight room access

If you have any questions, please contact Ian Kobes, Pool Director, at 669-1500, ext. #20243.
