Week 3: Picture Day and Walk•A•Thon

cheeseWe have a busy week, starting off with PICTURE DAY on Monday!   The photos take place in the MEDIA CENTER.

Another highlight of the week:  ALL SCHOOL WALK•A•THON.  This is our ONLY PARENT CLUB fundraiser for the year.  If we reach our goal of $15,000, the teachers will play a game of BUBBLE SOCCER for student and parent entertainment!  Information about the WALK•A•THON can be found here.  STUDENTS:  Remember to dress in your favorite BLUE/GOLD EAGLES Wear or dress as an American Ninja Warrior.

This past week, all classrooms discussed the importance of BEING NICE and BEING SAFE at Georgetown.  The goal is to help our students understand that we are a school family and as a family we need to respect one another as well as learn to appreciate and celebrate our differences.  Another part of being a school family involves reminding others when they are not being nice — understand appropriate ways to stand up for another person and understand how to report someone if their behavior is not safe or unkind.  If you want to learn more about the topics we discussed this week and continue to discuss all year-long, visit this post.

Our first PARENT CLUB meeting is on Tuesday of this week.  We begin promptly at 6:30 pm in the MEDIA CENTER and end promptly at 7:30 pm.   Teachers from Grades 5 and 1 will be attending this meeting — available to answer questions about the curriculum.   Please consider coming — especially if you have never attended.  We are a small group of people (very nice people) who do our best planning events for the school families, students, and teachers.

We are hoping that the cool, sunny weather stays through the week.  We would love to have our WALK•A•THON outside…and continue to take advantage of outdoor recess on these beautiful fall days!

Enjoy your weekend…and here’s to a great third week of school!
