Parent Club: Minutes and Volunteers

Our first Parent Club Meeting was held on Tuesday, 9/25/15 in the school Media Center @ 6:30 pm.  This means that our school year has officially begun!  The minutes of the meeting can be found here:

PCLUB MINUTES 9:25:15

We have also held our ONLY fundraiser for the year:  THE WALK•A•THON.  The funds raised during this event help us to maintain a commitment to funding parent/student events, support our school library, support the teachers who put endless hours and their own money into their classrooms, and much more!   Our treasurers, Krista Lawrence and Jody Hunt, have been counting money and tallying results all weekend.  As soon as we know the totals, we will announce winners for the prizes.  Be patient…this is a big big JOB and Krista and Jody are precise and amazing!

Our school needs the support of parents — one way to show support is with the donation of money for IMG_9035the WALK•A•THON.  Another way to support our school is by volunteering to support events — this can be through helping to organize on scene (at events) or behind the scenes (planning, preparations, phone calls, etc.).  We know that many of you work full-time, and cannot get to school during the day so your monetary donation is your support of our school –and we  THANK YOU!  Many members of the parent club and a high percentage of the parents at our school also work outside the home — we understand and appreciate your donation!  To find out the many ways the Parent Club supports our school, read through past blog posts and visit the Parent Club tab above.

If you are able to carve out time to help out at school for some activities, or you would like to help behind the scenes, please complete this volunteer survey.   We need volunteers — and although it isn’t a resume builder, your time at school will also be remembered by your child and makes our events possible.

IMG_4907I would like to send a special shout out to the father’s of our students.  I know most of you work full-time and have limited flexibility in your schedules.  This is also true of many of our working mother’s — yet we 98% of our working mothers make time to be volunteers for one event during the year — either through Parent Club events or supporting learning in the classroom.

We need more father’s present helping out at school because it sends a message to your children that both parents care and are involved — father’s and mother’s.  Please consider taking time this year to help in some way — either at a Parent Club event or by helping to support learning in the classroom.  Simply put — WE ARE INVITING ALL PARENTS (fathers and mothers) to SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL!

The following people have completed the survey…we appreciate you!  You do not need to complete the survey again.  To complete survey, click on this link:  Parent Club Support
