Week 35: May 23-27, 2016

flagThis week brings the final week of May.  Our 5th graders have been waiting all year for this week because it means they can finally go to CAMP HENRY for their 5th grade camp experience.  They will spend two full days participating in outdoor activities that promote team building, problem solving and FUN!

Another big event this week:  1st Grade ZOO TRIP.  This was originally scheduled for May 12 (postponed due to the forecast for thunderstorms).  The rescheduled field trip is on Monday and the forecast is sunshine and 80º… a beautiful day for a trip to  John Ball Zoo!

On the school learning end, we are officially done with ALL our M-STEP testing.  Our students in grades 3-5 devoted focused, intense energy on these tests from mid-April until this past week.  We are very proud of them and very happy to have this behind us!

Teachers are busy completing final assessments for math, reading, writing, science and social studies for June report cards.  Report cards mailed to your home on June 17.   These (gr PK-4) will include the teacher’s name for the upcoming grade listed in the comment section.

We end the week with the Memorial Weekend Holiday — a time to remember our veterans who died fighting for our freedom.  This holiday is also the “unofficial” kick off to summer — a time to attend parades, picnics and outdoor celebrations with family and friends.     In honor of our veterans, those who have died for us and those that are still with us, wear RED WHITE and BLUE on Friday, May 27.

I wish all of you a wonderful week and a fantastic Memorial Weekend.
