News from the Office…

I can’t believe that the last of the classroom parties are done already! This year is just flying by! We hit the 100th day of school and the kindergartener’s always have fun celebrating that! I can’t believe we are on the countdown for Spring Break! We only have 6 more weeks until Spring Break! CRAZY!!  We will be having Parent Teacher conferences on March 13 – 15 and book fair is also that same week. More information will be coming out soon!!

Spring Break dates – March 31 – April 9

Next Friday early release date – March 10

No More Battery Recycling…

Just FYI, We are no longer recycling batteries in the bucket by the office.

PTC News…

Saturday Feb 25 – Father /Daughter Dance…. They are still in need of many volunteers!!!!  If you would like to help out at this event, they are looking for some volunteers!! Saturday Mar 25 – Mother / Son Event, this will be taking place at BAM in Holland from 2:00 to 4:00. Details and sign ups will be coming out very soon!!!

March 3 – Popcorn Friday

March 7 and 8 – Jets Pizza Nights, Make it an easy supper night and order some yummy Jet’s Pizza. Jet’s will donate a portion of the proceeds back to Georgetown and the class that has the most orders will get a pizza party!!!

Don’t forget to turn in your box tops this week!! We will be sending them in at the end of the week!! If you want a paper to put them on you can print it out by clicking on the link. WinterHatsMittens BOX TOP FORM  Please be sure to label them with your child’s name and teacher!!  Also, keep sending in your family fare receipts!! We are collecting them in a box in the office! Just bring them in and put them in the box.

•Sign Up for Spring Girls Lacrosse! Registration is now open for the Hudsonville Youth Lacrosse Spring Season!

Girls -Grades 5-8th will play for Hudsonville against teams from other communities in a Spring outdoor season.

-Practices begin Late-March, Games begin after Spring Break (no practices over Spring Break).
 -New players are welcome.  This is a great time to start playing the fast-growing sport of lacrosse.

•Registration for Hudsonville Youth Lacrosse opens Jan 25.  Register on Hudslax.com
Boys lacrosse 3-8 grades.
Girls lacrosse grades 5-8.   ( girls in 3-4 grade may play on the boys lacrosse team)
•Bring the world to your doorstep!  International Experience (iE-USA) is a non-profit high school student exchange organization, and we are seeking host families for the 2017-2018 school year.  Students provide their own spending money to cover personal, school, sports, and recreation expenses, their own health insurance, and a desire to become part of your family.  Host families provide a safe and caring home, three meals per day, local transportation, and a quiet place to study.  Would you consider learning about the opportunity to open your heart and home to an exchange student?  Please contact local coordinator Sarah Boucher at 507-403-3544or s.boucher@international-experience.net.  Sarah lives in Jenison and is close by to be of support throughout the entire exchange experience.  You can view available students to host at www.iE-USA.org
•Love & Logic Parenting Workshop
February 22 and the 4 following Wednesdays:  Love & Logic Parenting Workshop, 6-8pm. Tired of power struggles with your kids and exhausted with trying to keep it cool in hot situations? Let us help! Join us for the Love & Logic 5 week Parenting Workshop on Wednesday nights beginning on February 22 from 6-8pm here at Fair Haven Church (FHC).  In these five sessions, parents will learn valuable techniques that will help transform their homes and create a positive environment for everyone to live in! FHC is covering the cost of the course; the only purchase that needs to be made by parents is the $10 workbook! Don’t forget, dinner is offered on Wednesday nights and we are offering free childcare through age 11. •The Hudsonville Athletic Boosters are presenting the GMB/ Eagle 5k ” Brian Carlson Memorial Run” on March 25, 2017 at 9am. The event will take place at Hudsonville High School with the route running through the city of Hudsonville. Special guest speaker this year will be Rebecca Cruttenden speaking at 8:30am in the gym. Rebecca is the founder and director of the Team Orphans and the owner of Clara Cookies. She is also a mother of three adopted children and a 6 time Ironman finisher. Be sure to check her out on our website. Come and hear Rebecca’s story and see why she is so passionate about helping others.
