Week 32: April 24-28, 2017

We have entered the rhythm of SPRING!  Gone are the boots, snow pants, hats, scarves, mittens and gloves.  Welcome spring jackets, sweatshirts, recess balls of all kinds, jump ropes and chalk.

Each day that we have pleasant weather, we try to get outside for extra recess to get in extra movement — and to work on our mileage club laps.

This past week, our fifth graders completed their state tests (M-STEP).  Our 5th graders worked hard to complete the questions (math, social students, reading, writing) to the best of their ability.   The teachers and I were very proud of them all.   No M-STEP testing this week.  We resume testing May 2-5 with our third graders.

Wednesday is a day to honor Mrs. Ripley and Mrs. Hoekstra — the two most incredible school secretaries on this planet!  It would be impossible to recount all the tasks they accomplish each school day.  I can share that they truly do it all — caring for injuries, taking temperatures, answering phones, fixing copy machines, taking attendance, locating missing items — and most importantly greeting everyone who comes to the building.  Mrs. Ripley and Mrs. Hoekstra set the tone for our building and in short, they are exceptional!

Snapshot of the week ahead below.  Wishing you a wonderful weekend of sunshine and family time.
