Week 38: Wrapping Up the School Year

              Our 2016-17 Fifth Grade Class

We have sent the past year (39 weeks total), growing together as learners, friends, team members and problem solvers.  Georgetown is a school made up of 560 students (K-5) and 48 staff members — 600+ people ages 5-60 working closely to establish routines for walking in the hall, recess play, lunchroom respect, sharing, learning and negotiating anything and everything imaginable.

And, this is all done with the demands of a tight schedule.  Everything in the school in dictated by the clock — bus pick up, bus departure, specials, lunch, recess, snack breaks, reading, math, science, social studies, spelling, writing, assessments, state testing — down to the minute.  This is only possible with a committed and flexible staff, highly trained teachers, supportive Parent Club and parents and the best  children on the planet!

I want to wrap this year up by honoring all the amazing, beautiful, one-of-a-kind individuals that make our school a wonderful family.  Please take some time to look at all the gorgeous faces that make up on school in the video above.  I take these photos throughout the year and place them on the Joyful Learners board — and we watch it grow all year-long.  Each photo represents a beautiful human being — one with a heart, soul and special personality… and each one an equally important part of our school family.

We say goodbye to 90 phenomenal 5th graders this week (photo of the group at the top) and we’ll miss them greatly.   We don’t want to let them go…but it’s time.  They are ready for middle school.

The schedule for our week is below.  Remember…half day on Friday.  Dismissal at 12:15.  Before I wrap up, I want to remind you to check out the GOT TALENT performers in the two prior posts.  Links here:

Have a wonderful weekend…and here’s to a fantastic final week of school!  As always, thank you for sharing your beautiful children with us this past year.
