ONLY ONE YOU

Our unifying theme for the school year is ONLY ONE YOU.  This is based on the book by Linda Krantz. The book is showcased below in a youtube video.

Every single student will hear the book read aloud by Mrs. Brouwer, our art teacher.  Each student will paint a rock that represents their special qualities.   The Georgetown ONLY ONE YOU rocks will join the rocks from all the elementary buildings and become part of an ART PRIZE ENTRY.

Art Prize is a an annual event held in downtown Grand Rapids in the fall.  The dates of Art Prize are September 20-October 8.   Following the exhibit, all of the Georgetown rocks will return to our school and be installed in an outdoor exhibit area — and be apart of our school always.

In addition to the rocks, I will be taking black and white photos of all the children and staff throughout the year and posting these on our ONLY ONE YOU board this is across from the library.

*Many thanks to Mrs. Brouwer, most amazing ART TEACHER on this planet and Mr. Rob for making this project and installation at Georgetown possible.
