Week 10: October 30-November 3

Well it’s official…fall/early winter weather has arrived!  Make sure your child has gloves/mittens and a hat to wear out for recess each day.  Also, write your last name on the tag of the winter coat.  Actually…write your last name on the tag of any sweatshirt or sweater your child wears to school!

Why?  If it ends up on the playground and then in lost & found, I will get it back to your child.  It is a big help to have NAMES so that I have less to take to Goodwill/Salvation Army at year’s end.

This week we will be focusing school-wide on how to be a GEORGETOWN UPSTANDER.  What is an upstander?  Someone who represents Georgetown’s BE NICE RULES everywhere: classroom, playground, lunchroom, hallway, bathroom, bus.  When a person is left out, an upstander asks them to join – work time and play time. When a person is being teased or hurt, an UPSTANDER Stands UP, Speaks UP and Teams UP.

You can preview the topics/theme we will be discussing below.  Our goal is to help raise awareness about how to stand up for others and know the difference between teasing, horseplay, rough play, fighting and bullying.

A snapshot of the week is below.  Remember…Friday is an early release.  The teachers will be working on report cards as well as preparing for conferences (Nov 6 and 8).

Stay warm and cozy this weekend!
