Week 36: May 20-24, 2019

Welcome to the WIND UP to WIND DOWN!  We have 13.5 days of school to go and like all teachers, we are going to make use of every single minute!

If you gaze at the calendar below, you’ll see that the most common activity is FIELD TRIPS.  In addition, every classroom will be wrapping up units of study and completing assessments for report cards.

Stay connected with your child’s classroom via their class blog regarding end of year due dates, etc.

The end of the year brings transitions…and the biggest and most sentimental is our 5th grade transition from elementary school to middle school.  Most of our 5ht graders have been at Georgetown for six years…some of them seven years.  One particular 5th graders is the veteran of Georgetown — attending  for nine years: 3 years of ECSE + K-5 for six years.  His name is Kellan Gainey and if you haven’t met him, you are MISSING OUT!

This past Thursday, our 5th graders headed to Camp Henry for the culminating team building experience of elementary school.  Our veteran student, Kellan, did something absolutely exceptional and brave.  As a visually impaired person, he climbed to the top of a zip line tower and zipped bravely down while his classmates cheered him on.  His father, Jim, zipped down next to Kellan.  Enjoy this clip — it represents the beauty and magic  of growing and learning together for 6+ years!
