Week 19: Jan 13-17, 2020

Our first week of 2020 was BUSY!   It was great to hear about family/holiday events and reconnect with friends.  This week was also a BIG ADJUSTMENT … learning to get back into the learning routine, behavior expectations and sharing space/materials with peers.   We also has the full wolf moon (which was beautiful if you saw it early Thursday morning), and full moons definitely have an impact on moods — more energy and fuller personalities!  We’re looking forward to the second week to help establish routines and hopefully some better outside play weather.

We have some upcoming district events for you to keep in mind.  On January 21 at 6pm (Freshman High School Auditorium), the district is hosting SCREENAGERS: The Next Chapter Documentary.

The topic is very relevant:  SCREEN TIME and CHILDREN.  If you are interested in learning about how to talk to your child about the safety and dangers and risks of apps on devices, this is the meeting for you to attend.  This is especially relevant for parents of fourth and fifth graders — and if your child already has access to a hand held device.

Another important event:  PK/K Registration.  This will be held January 28 at 7 pm in the Georgetown Lunchroom/Multi-Purpose Room.  If you have a current PK’er at Alward are the ECC, you do not need to attend this meeting.  You also do not need to register your child.  All the paperwork transfers over for kindergarten.  If you have a NEW PK/K, you will need to register your child.  The district is using an online system this year and this will be live soon.  You will still need to drop off paperwork at school:  Child’s Birth Certificate, Parent Photo ID, Utility Bill or some proof of residence.  You can drop this off anytime between 8am-4pm M-F.   We will send an email out to all parents when the online registration is ready to go.

I hope your are safe and cozy this weekend. Here’s to next week!
