Marco’s Pizza Night Tonight

Hello Georgetown Families!!  Marco's_Pizza

Tonight is a MARCO’S PIZZA NIGHT!!!  Hooray!  It sure seems like it would be a great night to order dinner in.  Just think you can have dinner all ready for your family and earn money for Georgetown at the same time!  It can’t get any easier than that now can it??!!

DO NOT forget when placing your order to mention a teacher’s name.  The class with the most participation will win a classroom pizza party.  Yeah!!

Thank you for supporting Georgetown Elementary! pz01h018

Girls on the Run, 2011

We have been fortunate for the past two years to host a chapter of the National Girls on the Run Program at Georgetown Elementary.

A Liaison (organizer) and Coaches are being organized for this year’s spring Girls on the Run Program.  If you are interested, please contact SARAH  BOLMAN at  616.494.1719

Liaison and Coaches assist with the following:

Program Start-up:

  • Promoting the program to students and parents by assisting in the distribution of registration information and informing appropriate families of scholarship opportunities.
  • They will also assist in identifying and reserving space for GOTR teams to practice and store their shoes, as well as identifying potential coaches.

On-going Responsibilities:

  • Throughout the season the liaison will be in contact as needed with the Program Coordinator and their on-site coaches to ensure those participants and their parents are informed of any last minute schedule changes.  It will normally be the coach’s responsibility to inform parents of changes; however, in the event that the coach is unable to do this it will be the liaison’s responsibility to make sure that they are informed accordingly.

Additional information can be found at this location:  GOTR

You can register your daughter online or in person:

  • Online registration for this program runs  from January 1-27, 2010.  This program is available to girls in grades 3-5, with practices beginning in February, and a 5K race in May.
  • Local Registration will be held at Park Elementary in Hudsonville on January 7 form 3:45-6:30.

    Happy December 12!

12According to an article I read today in the TIMES, “Sunday is the twelfth day of the twelfth month, which makes it a 12/12 day, which makes this the perfect weekend to get yourself a copy of the Duodecimal Bulletin, Celebrator of all things Twelvish.”

This group, along with several mathematician friends of mine, argue that the world would be so much more divisor, multiplier and everything friendly if our counting systems was built around twelves rather than tens.  To find out why, read this entertaining and informative article by Robert Krulwich, a science writer for a variety of publications.

KaycieIt’s here!  Our big show night.  We are busy right now running dress rehearsals at Resurrection Life Church.

    Please remember these simple tips:

    1. Enter off from 52nd Ave.  Once in the driveway, take a right and follow the drive to the Worship Center.
    2. Children are dropped off in their rooms between 6:30 and 6:45.
    3. Once your children are dropped off in the room, please bring their COAT with you to your seats in the Worship Center.
    4. We will dismiss the children AFTER the program is completed.

Once you are seated in the Worship Center, sit back….relax…and enjoy the incredible vocal talents of your children!

make a wishRight now, children across the country are invited to drop off their letters — stamped and addressed to Santa at the North Pole — in the Santa Mail letterbox at any Macy’s store.

For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1 million dollars to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
