Carnival Highlights

Our 2012-13 Carnival was perfect….great attendance and ideal weather for a Friday in May.  While moving from one activity to another, I spent time talking with families and took a few photos!

Many thanks to all the parents who volunteered to help with ticket sales and take down, clean up.  HUGE thanks to Stacey Alexander for organization of this great event.

Final Week of School

We wrapped up last week with our school carnival…a perfect way to celebrate a terrific year.  Many thanks to our PTC for organizing this.  Many parents donated to the insanely popular cake walk as well as time and energy to planning, set up and take down.  While walking about with Milo and Miss Robertson, a visiting teacher from England, I was able to take a few photos which are highlighted  above!

We are entering our final week of school for the 2012-13 school year.  It has been an amazing year — one filled with memories of friendships (new and continued), learning celebrations and school happenings.   We want you to know how much your support means to us — through volunteering in the classrooms, at PTC events and through your support of your child’s learning activities.  Your support of your child’s learning environment makes it possible for our school to reach all learners. Our school is great because of you and your children!

Throughout the summer months, I will update our blog with details about the upcoming 2012-13 school year.  Open Houses for next year will be held on August 28 (K) and August 29 (grades 1-5).

Also…our Library will be open in the summer from 10-12 on Tuesdays.  This is a great time to come and meet teachers and check out books.  Details coming in a post later this week!

School dismisses on Friday at 1 pm.  The children will eat lunch at school before we dismiss them.

Here’s to a fantastic week…filled with sunshine and wrap up activities!

Another Great PTC Event!

Skylar Carnvial

The rain held off…and as a result, we were able to hold the Georgetown 2011 May Carnival outside!  The booth games were staged in the circle drive, along with pets from the Harbor House Humane Society, a jump house, blow up slide, cotton candy and snow cones.  Inside, the PTC provide pizza, soda, face painting, popcorn and a cake walk.

It was a great event….one that was focused on family fun.  I must add this note of appreciation and gratitude to the volunteers.  Events like this are a huge undertaking to plan and execute.  Because our focus is to hold events like these at a break even venture with a focus on family fun rather than making a profit, much work goes into setting the right prices and recruiting volunteers.  Susie Coxen and Stacey Alexander put in hundreds of hours to make this event a success and I appreciate their important work!

Check out this slide show to see some of the happy moments I caught while visiting people at various locations throughout the night.

As always, thank you for your participation and support of events like this at our school.

Week 33: May 9-13, 2010

I hope everyone was able to take some time today to honor all  mother’s in your life!  It certainly was a beautiful day to be outside.  The spring weather is long overdue.

We will be hosting GEORGETOWN’s CARNIVAL on Friday of this week.  This event will be held after school on Friday and I hope that you can attend.  Susie Coxen, Stacey Alexander and many others have worked hard to organize an event that will be fun for families and friends.

The staff at Georgetown will be busily preparing for JUST WRITE…a celebration of our year long work in writing.  This event will be held daily next week–with each grade showcasing their stories on different days.  Be sure to check your child’s class blog for details.  We would love to have you stop by and read our work.

Have a wonderful week!

Spring Carnival Donations Needed

April 16, 2010

Dear Georgetown Families,

Georgetown Elementary in Hudsonville will be holding their annual Spring Carnival on Saturday, May 15, 2010.  This is a favorite time for Georgetown families to join together in a day of fun and fundraising.

This year all proceeds from the carnival will be donated to the Lamers Family. This is one special family that is in dire need.  Currently, the Lamers Family is financially struggling with medical expenses incurred with their son, Brodie, who has Cerebral Palsy, a paralyzing medical condition.  This family needs to make accommodations to their home as well as purchase a handicap accessible van for Brodie. In addition to Brodie, Tisha and Matthew have three children to support. In today’s economy, this has been quite a challenge.

The Parent Club would appreciate a donation from ALL of our students.

We need for all students to bring in:

Baked Goods for the Carnival Cake Walk Game: K – 2nd grades

2 Litters of Pop for the Carnival Pop Toss Game: 3rd – 5th grades

All baked goods & 2 liters of Pop should be dropped off to the school office by Friday, 05/14/2010 by 4:00 PM.

If you have cares or concerns, please contact Susie Coxen 669-3662 or Stacey Alexander 914-6896.

Thank You
