Technically March does not fall in the spring, but it is close enough that I can wish my way toward it! We wanted you to get the date for our book fair on on your calendar and keep this in mind:
There will be a SPECIAL drawing on MARCH 4 for vouchers to use during the
Georgetown Elementary PTC Book Fair. The book fair will be held March 15-19.
There will also be a wonderful variety of books being raffled.
Continue to encourage your child to make their goal for this special drawing!
Dear Georgetown Mothers and Daughters:
Just a reminder from our wonderful PTC. The Mother/Daughter event will be held on Saturday, February 6 from 1:00-4:00pm. This event will be a pottery decorating activity. I will be attaching the registration form for your convenience. The cost of this activity will be $10 per person. On Wednesday, December 16, our Parent Club hosted a holiday breakfast for the staff. Susie Coxen and Kristi Fellows, along with several under cover parents transformed the multi-purpose room into a festive, candle-lit atmosphere that was filled with the smells of all things yummy: pastries, potato casseroles, egg dishes and delicious coffee!
Many thanks to everyone who supplied food and made this event possible. This was a wonderful way for us
to begin our day together. During the breakfast, we thanked the PTC for their outstanding leadership—especially with the support of families and students that are struggling during these difficult times. Because of parent support through fund raisers and donations, we were able to make sure that children had gifts from The Secret Santa Workshop and others have jackets and coats for winter–as well as mittens and hats.
When Georgetown opened in 2006, the PTC committed to supporting the families, students and teachers through events, activities and service projects. These goals continue to be strong — and this makes our school community stronger as a result!
Last week, the children in our building snuck down to Santa’s Secret Shop to purchase gifts for special people in their families. Jamie Ham recruited volunteers to help with gift selection and purchasing. I am sure the gifts are hidden in a special place at home. I hope you are delighted and surprised on Christmas morning. Many, many, many thanks to the Parent Club for making this event possible each year.

I would like share the names and contact information of our Parent Club Board Members for the upcoming school year (2009-10). This team has been working since late May to plan events for the upcoming year. They volunteer their time–and spend endless hours behind the the scenes planning events and many hours executing events so that they are JUST perfect for our students and families.

The PTC organized and ran a fun school carnival this past Saturday (May 14, 2009). Due to high winds and chilly temperatures, it was moved inside. The design of the building, allow with the outstanding organization of Fun Services, created a perfect indoor carnival experience. Many thanks to all who set up this event and ALL that attended–including the BMS honor students who helped run events!
The week of May 4-11, the staff of Georgetown was treated like royalty by the Georgetown PTC. The week opened with an appreciation breakfast–sponsored by Wheaties! As the week progressed, we were served pizza and salad, treated to honorary chocolate bars, presented with one of a kind note paper, gifted with ELECTRIC PENCIL SHARPENERS, and served a Panera’s lunch. I even received two of my favorite treats…brownies (oh how I love brownies) and a pot of flowers that look beautiful on my patio. It was absolutely incredible! Many thanks to all of you who supported us last week and every single week of the year. We could not do all that we do for your children without your support!
