BLOG BITS from the OFFICE 3/19/10

Good Friday Afternoon!

NEWS FROM THE OFFICE

Wow……. what a busy week at Georgetown!  It was like a whirlwind!  We survived the week of Kindergarten screening,  talent show auditions, book fair, 4th Grade field trip to Lansing, 5th Graders visiting the Middle School and to end it all Popcorn Friday!  We went out with a bang!

Just a note to parents….. if your child walks/rides their bike to school you NEED to send a note to their teaching stating that they can walk/ride their bike home.  On the teachers behalf, they do not know when students walk and ride their bikes to school.  Thanks for helping us out with this!

TUESDAY/THURSDAY KINDERGARTEN……  This is a very important note about Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten!  APRIL 1ST is a school day for Tuesday/Thursday Kindergartners!  We do not start spring break until April 2.

RAISE A READER SCHOOL CHALLENGE….   If you have not signed up for the Raise A Reader School Challenge it is NOT too late.  To do so, just go to Mrs. VandenBerg’s Library News Blog and you will find the link to enroll.  Remember this is our chance to WIN $5,000 for our Library here at Georgetown Elementary.

5TH GRADE NEWS…..  Just a few reminders for upcoming dates for our 5th grade students.   April 13 instrument fittings for students wanting to join band; April 21/22 Band meeting for parents; April 28 Course selections due back to 5th grade teachers; May 3 Sixth grade orientation meeting for parents at BMS; May 11 Parent meeting for camp; May 19-21 5th grade Camp.  Wow before you know it they will be on to Middle School!!   Take time to enjoy those 5th graders, before you know it Spring will be gone and school will be out!
