BUDGET REVIEW
Brenda reviewed the budget

Walk-a-thon is our biggest fundraiser.

Current balance in the bank is $6,159.75.  This balance is available if necessary but the current budget does not use these funds.

Doug Royse Spoke on walk-a-thon.  The goal is for each student to raise $25.  Goal is $10-15,000

Volunteers are needed. If you would like to help at the Walk-a-thon, please contact Doug at roysefmcuso@att.blackberry.net

Parent spoke about how the 5th graders were very excited about the prizes (Wii, Great Wolf Lodge, Gold Cards)

Water bottle is going to be the prize for each student who raises $25, to be delivered after the walk-a-thon.

Cory Gahsman (son in pre-K) spoke:

Likes the walk a thon. It is a healthier fundraiser

Class Pizza party – worried about competition between classes for the prizes. We had a discussion about this together.

Staci spoke about how past prizes were done in previous walk a thons. Jamie (president) spoke about how the teachers are helping to promote raising funds. Staci (co-treasurer) mentioned that we may need to look at ratios and percentages for determining the class winner for the pizza party because PreK students can only have 20 kids in a class and higher-ed can have more students.

Krista Lawrence motioned to approve the budget.  Another parent seconded the budget.  Budget was approved.

Principal Report By Theresa Reagan

Thanked the board. Our school has 600 students from PreK to 5th Grade.  School has gone really well our 5th year. It’s been a great start. We are busy getting routines built into classrooms and getting assessments completed.  MEAP tests startOctober 14th. We are given 2 weeks to conduct the tests.

District-wide, our schools are up 100+ students. We are in the middle of facility planning for projecting our growth. There will be community forums held for public input into the many plans for accommodating our growth.

Our staff population is growing with babies. Mr. Rob is expecting a family addition in January.

Teacher’s Report By Kym Burdis – 5th grade teacher

Thanks for inviting me here. Thanked the PTC board.

Teacher request for red wagons near entrances for hauling school supplies. Kym Burdis will get feedback from the teachers about this idea. We also need to run the idea by Mr. Rob.

EVENTS Report By Jamie Ham and Staci Nieboer

Jet’s Pizza is coming up on October 5th.

Marco’s Pizza 27 orders  $63 in funds raised from $420 in orders

Pizza coloring boxes. Make your own boxes. 2 years ago Marco’s donated all white cardboard pizza boxes. In art classes the kids colored their boxes and labeled with their names. Then when you go to order your pizza, it comes delivered in a personally colored pizza box. Further discussions to come on repeating this idea.

Popcorn Fridays Kids really love the popcorn.  Donations accepted for supplies.  A fun thing for school spirit.

Trick or Trot funds go towards the 4-5th grade field days, prizes.

Box Tops / Campbell’s Label

Classroom from each wing will earn a prize (gift card).  Volunteers count box tops and tally the labels to determine the winners.  Campbells labels have to be counted in groups of X amounts. Volunteers help cut and count the labels.

Christi Dandurand volunteered to chair this committee

Book Fair

Cindy Roerig and Christi Dandurand  will be heading that up. Volunteers are needed to help run the book fair Nov. 1-5 during PT conferences. Signup sheet was passed out. The sensory motor room is being used for the book fair. Please contact Cindy if you wish to help: cmroerig@yahoo.com

Meeting Q&A

Kim Burdis asked who’s leading 5th Grade celebration. Susie is leading and Kyle and Heather are helping.

Jamie spoke about the money coming in to the school. One person will count it and one person will check it. Theresa reported that no more than $100 can stay overnight in the school. The money gets counted and deposited frequently and sorted by grade level.
