News From the Office….

Just a reminder that we DO NOT have school on Monday March 7. It is Records Day so students do not report to school on Monday!! Even though we did have another snow day this week, we did make it to March!! March will be busy with report cards, conferences, book fair, and of course the anticipation of Spring!! With that said, it is time to start our Spring Break countdown! 27 more days until Spring Break which starts on Friday, April 1!! Woo hoo!! Have a great weekend everyone!

Kindergarten Round Up Rescheduled….

kindergartenDue to the weather, the district’s PK•Kindergarten Enrollment Meetings were canceled .

The meetings will be held  3/8/16 at 7 pm in all buildings.  Georgetown’s session will be in the Multi-Purpose Room/Cafeteria.  If you are unsure which school your child will attend next year, contact Robin Vandenberg in the HPS District Office:  rvandenb@hpseagles.net or 616-669-1740 x1

This meeting is for parents only and will run from 7-7:30pm.

If you cannot attend, visit the tab above and print off the registration, look over the information and drop off your materials in the school office M-F from 9-3 pm. You can also find the materials here:

PK •K Registration Materials

It is important to note that your child HAS to be up to date on immunizations OR have a waiver on file BEFORE YOUR CHILD MAY START SCHOOL. Please see the attached information from Ottawa Department of Public Health for more information. 2016_kindergartners_new

On the green health appraisal form is a section for vision and hearing. Some doctors offices do vision, but most do not do hearing. You can have this done free of charge at the Ottawa County Health Department, but you do need an appointment. You can call them at 616-669-0040 to set up an appointment. They do get very busy this time of year, so you may want to call to reserve your spot.

PTC News….

Book Fair – Spring is coming … and this means Parent Teacher Conferences and our Scholastic Book Fair.  bookfair

The Book Fair is only possible with parent support — and it is because of the volunteers that we are able to help children continue to develop an interest in books and enjoy reading — which prepares them for success in school and later their work.

We need VOLUNTEERS to make this event happen.  For those of you who need an extra incentive:  Volunteering earns you a 10% DISCOUNT on all your shopping during book fair week.  Please consider helping out as we still need many spots filled!! Click on this link to help out! You can also email Jody Hunt at jmhunt21@hotmail.com to see how you can help!

Art News….
From Mrs. Brouwer and Mrs. Persch:  Are you wondering where we are hiding all of your kid’s art?  It is safely stowed away in our art room bins!  art screenschot

Instead of picking up artwork during conferences as we did last year, we plan to neatly bag up everyone’s art and have it available for pick up in mid-May; we will notify you of the pick-up date in May.
In the meantime, you can check out our projects on our Art Blog at http://josettebrouwer.edublogs.org.  Can’t wait to see your student’s artwork?  Visit our Artsonia Kids Art Museum – we have over 2,800 student art pieces uploaded already this year!
Visit www.artsonia.com  and contact me (jbrouwer@hpseagles.net) if you need your child’s Artsonia key code access.

The Hudsonville Athletic Boosters are presenting the GMB/ Eagle 5k on March 26, 2016 at 9am. The event will take place at Hudsonville High School with a NEW  route running through the city of Hudsonville. Special guest speaker this year will be Jim Dreyer speaking at 8:30am in the gym. This year we are proud to have Jim Dreyer as our guest speaker prior to the race. The open water, Jim’s greatest fear since a childhood near-drowning, has become the playing field for much of his unprecedented athletic success. Controlling fear and harnessing “Cornerstone Strength in the Face of Burden” is the subject of his inspirational presentations on the speaker’s circuit.

Be sure to sign up on line at www.classicrace.com  and visit our website www.hudsonville5k.com for more information. Online registration is only way to sign up for this race. Be sure to check out and LIKE our Facebook page (Eagle 5k race sponsored by GMB) also for all updates.
