News From The Office….

This is it! The last Blog bits of the school year! I can’t believe how fast the year went! We have 9 more SCHOOL Days until we are out for the summer!! We will be dismissed at 1:00 on Friday, June 10. We hope you all have a fun, safe summer and we will see you back in the fall.

Here are a couple reminders for the end of the year:

1. If you are bringing in a frozen treat for a birthday or just for fun, please bring them in a cooler. We do not have a lot of extra room in the lounge freezer. Thanks for your help with this!!

2. If your child has meds at school, you MUST pick them up by the end of the day on Friday June 10 (last day of school). Any meds that are left at school at the end of the year will be disposed of.  Thanks!

Field Day….

4th and 5th grade Field day is June 7 from approximately 9:20-1:45. Rain date will be on June 8. Please send a waterbottle, sack lunch (unless you ordered one from food service), and put on sunscreen!

Summer Book Fair….

Summer BOGO Book Fair….

BOGO Book fairPlease help us kick off our summer reading with our first ever Summer BOGO Fair June 14th-15th!!!  Come by and stock up on books so your kids can never complain that they have “nothing to do” over summer. Purchases also help benefit our school by allowing us to buy more books for classrooms and the library. Shop early as quantities are limited!!!!  Look for more details to be sent home with your child.

•Jamestown Memorial Day Parade

Parade starts promptly @ 10:00 a.m. – Monday, May 30, 2016parade

Lineup @ 8:30 a.m. @ Jamestown Baptist Church, 2472 Quincy

The parade ends at Riley Street Middle School parking lot.

You’re Invited to Participate!  – Prizes, Prizes, Prizes!

Prizes awarded in the following categories:

Walkers / Bikes, Skateboards, Roller Blades /Walking Floats /

Motorized Floats / Animals / Tractors / Antique Cars

Judging 9:00 -9:20 a.m.

The following four awards will be given for each of the above categories:

Most Creative / Most Patriotic / Vintage / Judge’s Choice

All Children participating in the parade will get a treat at our special “General Store” located in the Riley Street Middle School parking lot after they finish the parade.

•Casting for 2016 Community Children’s Musical

GUMchurch (Georgetown United Methodist) invites community children age 4 through entering grade 8 to be part of the 2016 children’s musical “The Agape League”.

An informational meeting for parents will be held on Tuesday, May 31 at 6pm in the sanctuary of GUMchurch (2766 Baldwin Street in Jenison).

Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings 6pm-7pm.

Children entering grades 1 to 8 rehearse each Tuesday evening June 7 – August 23.

4-year-olds and those entering Pre-K or K will rehearse on Tuesday evenings starting in late July.

Dress rehearsal will be held on Saturday, August 27;  Performances will be Sunday, August 28 at 10am and 4pm.

•Saturday, June 11 – Kids Day 2016!
Kids! Moms! Dads! – get your summer off to a great start with an affordable, family-friendly event. Come to the 7th annual Kids Day at the Hudsonville Fairgrounds between 10 am and 3 pm. Enjoy free stage shows,  $.25 games, lots of prizes, affordable kid-friendly food, and much more. We’ll be there come rain or shine. Kids Day is organized by Jehovah Jireh Ministries, and is supported by several local businesses, churches, and organizations.

 

•Is your daughter going into 1st-8th grade next fall and interested in cheering? Hudsonville Rocket Cheerleading will be having their registration dates on cheerleadingTuesday, June 7th and Monday, August 1st.  Both will be from 5-8pm and take place at the Hudsonville High School cafeteria.  The registration deadline is Monday, August 1st (no late registrations will be accepted).  The cost of registration is $75 and includes an end of year banquet and trophy.  1st – 6th grade girls are required to purchase a new uniform for $50, as we are getting new uniforms this year.  7th and 8th grade girls are required to pay a $10 uniform rental fee.  The 1st-6th grade girls will be cheering at the Hudsonville Youth Football games and the 7th & 8th grade girls will be cheering at the Hudsonville Club Football games. •Blood Driveblood drive
Eastern Ottawa Young Life will be holding a blood drive on June 4, from 10am-2pm, at Spring Valley Church. Which is located at 5947 Lake Michigan Drive, Allendale MI.
This blood drive supports MI Blood save lives and works as a fundraiser to supply scholarships that send kids to summer camp. Michigan Blood donates $10 for each person that attempts to donate. Will you consider donating to this worthy cause? All we ask is a small piece of your time!
Pre register at eoyl.org/blooddrive for a time slot, to avoid waiting in line. Walk-ins are always welcome! Look forward to a time celebration with fun, food, and prizes surrounding your donation time!
•Hope College Summer Science Camps and Academies for Grades K -12
 
Scholarship deadline has been extended for Hudsonville Students
Hope College is offering exciting opportunities this summer for students to explore the wonderful world of science and more. The program is staffed by Hope College science and education students and features “hands-on” interactive investigations designed to teach scientific concepts in a FUN, yet challenging way as well as skill and technique building experiences in the non-science camps.  Click here for more information and to register.

•The Saturday Slip N Slide will be held on June 18 from noon until 5:00pm at Rosewood Park in Jenison (a.k.a. Charlie’s Dump).  Join us for an afternoon of family fun slip and slideincluding giant waterslides, bounce houses, a foam pit, dunk tanks, toddler water park, human foosball, and much more!  A raffle will be held during the last two hours of the event and thousands of dollars of prizes will be given away.  A 5K run/walk will also be held that morning at 8:30am.Saturday Slip N Slide 5K

•Rock Your Voice is back! 
Register for it at http://www.hudsonvilleevents.com/#!rock-your-voice/rno48. Performances will take place at Hudsonville’s fall festival, Urban Hay Day on Saturday, October 15. Youth and teens will be signing three songs, auditions start at 11am. The stage will be located at Farmers Co-op at 3302 Prospect Street. •Girls lacrosse has only been around at Hudsonville for a few short years, but the numbers keep growing, & many girls are realizing now is the perfect time to join the fastest lacrosse imagesgrowing sport in the U.S!

Hudsonville Girls lacrosse has combined their middle school teams with Grandville over the past few years due to low numbers, but is finally looking to start their own dedicated Hudsonville middle school team, to help feed into their girls’ Varsity team.

Hudsonville Community Education will also be running a 3 day Girls Lax Summer Camp from June 14-16th, 2016 from 6-8pm to give girls (2nd-12th grade) an opportunity to try out lacrosse for the first time, or to help improve their skills at any level.
