Week 2: Sept 12-16, 2016

plumertPictured above is one of our amazing 5th grade students,  Nick DeYoung waving farewell from the bus with his “grandpa.”

We had a FANTASTIC first week of school!  Thank you parents for your attention to detail with necessary materials for learning and communication regarding your children’s after-school departure.

Dismissal of 560 children is a very focused, critical part of our day.  We want every child safely on the correct bus, or in the lobby for pick up or at Eagles’ Nest Day Care.  If you change your child’s going home plans, contact your child’s TEACHER before noon — do this by email.  Put GOING HOME CHANGE in the subject line of the email.  If you do not hear back from your child’s teacher by 2 pm confirming the change, contact the office to confirm.

bus-24Speaking of departure, one of our parents (Mr. Weber) challenged BUS 24 to a race.  Coincidentally both of Mr. Weber’s children ride Bus 24.  The challenge:  As the bus departed, he would depart on foot at the same time with the goal of reaching the neighborhood entrance before the bus.  The results…BUS 24 won.  Mr. Weber plans to work on his sprinting skills and when ready, he will return for another challenge!

REMINDER:  We have our first half-day on FRIDAY, 9/16.  Busses depart at 12:15.  If your child is a car rider, please pick up between 12:10-12:15.

We are looking forward to our second week….with less humidity!
