Week 33: April into May

If you see white stuff falling from the sky, the only advice I have to offer is this:  CLOSE YOUR CURTAINS or BLINDS until late Sunday.   The calendar turns too May on Wednesday — and I have the highest of hopes that we have better weather ahead.

Our LOST and FOUND reflects the weather changes with a mix of winter and spring coats.  If you think you’re missing a jacket, encourage your child to check their locker or visit Lost & Found.

Congratulations to our 5th Graders who completed their final series of M-STEP tests this week.  They took six tests (ELA, MATH, Science – 2 tests, Social Studies 2-tests) and stayed focused and worked hard throughout each test.  This testing involved six half days over the past two weeks and we are happy to have it behind us.   This week our third graders will take the ELA and MATH M-STEP tests on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

In addition to M-STEP testing, our students in grades 1-3 have been taking new district assessments called the STAR 360. These are online assessments in reading and math.  These test results serve as a comparison of our student performance with similar students in each grade across the nation. Like the M-STEP test, these are a snapshot of our student academic progress.

Highlights of the week are below.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend…and here’s to next week!
