Music Virtual Performance

Hello and Happy Friday Georgetown Families!

It’s hard to believe that we are officially half way through the school year with today marking the end point of the first semester.  Time does fly and in 140 days we’ll be wishing the students well for the summer…it will be here before we know it!

Before we think forward to summer though, I’d like to think back to the holidays.  This year, we were unable to host our in-person holiday concert, but we wanted to still provide an opportunity for our students to “perform” for their families, friends, and loved ones.  Mrs. Bretz, our music teacher has worked incessantly, along with our students, to make the best of this unusual year.  Please see Mrs. Bretz’s message below and follow the link to watch this years’ GES Holiday Program!

Greetings from the Music room!

Although we were disappointed to not be able to perform together for our traditional large-scale holiday program this year, we have worked hard in music class to create a “virtual” performance to share with you!  With limitations on singing, we focused on instrumental versions of favorite holiday songs instead!  This has allowed us an opportunity to spend time exploring steady beat, rhythms, notes on a staff and new instruments.

All grades (K-5th) focused on a different instrument and have recorded a video demonstrating our musical abilities and growth this year.  I’m so proud of how hard all of our students have worked!  It is truly a blessing to be able to teach them each and every day.

Enjoy this “virtual performance” and a peek into the musical lives of your children.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Bretz
