Happy Thanksgiving!

In so many ways, it is hard to believe that the Thanksgiving holiday is upon us.  The next few weeks will be filled with busy times at home and school–most of the energy center around holiday preparations.  Please make sure that you mark your calendars for our December 4 all school Holiday Program.  This will be held at Resurrection Life Church in Grandville.  Directions and details are available on this blog and Mrs. Bretz’s blog (link to the left).  I will also post details next week.

The Thanksgiving holiday is a time to be thankful.  We, the entire Georgetown staff, would like you to know how very thankful we are for you–the parents of the wonderful children we work with five days per week.  Thank you for all you do to prepare them to work hard and learn well on a daily basis.

I also want you to know how thankful I am for the staff at Georgetown.  Each and every person (from the teaching staff right up to the parapro and custodial staff) is so very committed to the work they do with a focus on creating the best climate for our students.  I mean this  very sincerely:  I have never worked with such an exceptional group in my life.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your families and friends.  Mrs. Reagan

Lucas…the Perfect Final Lunch!

I was privileged to have my final Time and Talent Lunch Out today with Lucas!  You are not going to believe this…we had lunch at Mr. Burger.  This has been the most popular lunch destination with 4 out of 5 lunches at Mr. Burger.  Lucas is a double cheese burger lover and, this is my favorite part, A BROWNIE LOVER!  We had a wonderful time talking about our upcoming Thanksgiving gatherings.  He is looking forward to seeing his Grandma, going to a movie (I vote for the 3-D movie) and hanging out with friends.

I had a wonderful time with all five of my lunch guests!  Many thanks to all the parents who donated money so that I could have the pleasure of lunching with your children.  And best of all, the money goes toward the Grace Thatcher Scholarship Fund.

Lunch with Nicholas

I had a terrific lunch with Nicholas, one of the Time and Talent Lunch Winners.  We lunched at Mr. Burger and talked about puppies, toys and Star Wars.  I found out that Nicholas has a huge Christmas list with the most unusual request I have ever heard.  He would like a dragon.  I told him that I have never heard of anyone wanting a dragon, and that if he receives this at a gift, I would like to borrow it!  Nicholas does have a cute dog named Weston who I think might be jealous of a dragon!

Nicholas is a bright, animated and personable second grader.  He even missed the first snow recess to have lunch with me.  Thank you, Nicholas!

This is our second season with the MYWA program. Our team will again be coached by Alan Smith, A GVSU All-American and high school state champion, known for his exciting style and excellent coaching technique with kids.  To find out more details, click on:  mywa

Mr. Gort’s Class: PE CARES WINNERS!

If you have a child in one of the fourth grade classrooms, you have been well aware of the very heated contest for PE Cares.  Students were asked to donate canned goods to stock our local food bank.   As the competition drew to a close on Friday, parents were stopping by with CASES of food for the two classes tied for 1st place:  Mr. Gort and Mrs. Jurewicz.  The PE teachers were counting and recounting the items to ensure that the results were valid—we didn’t want to risk a re-count!  Mr. Gort’s class won…but I heard whispers in the hall about Mrs. Jurewicz’s class coming in first in the next competition!

Thank you for everyone for contributing to this worthy cause.  PE LINK
