Don’t forget to SPRING on Sunday!
Sunday, March 13 marks the beginning of daylight savings time. CBS Fast Draw has a great animated video that explains the logic of springing ahead and falling back.
The first day of spring is March 20, 2011. Oh, how happy I am to see these two March days approaching on our calendar. I am ready to have some SPRING in my step.
Falling Back…Again!
It’s that time of year where we fall back one hour. Daylight savings time occurs twice each year, once in the fall and once in the spring. The falling back one hour takes place this year on November 7 (tomorrow) at 2 am.
The history and purpose behind these time changes is interesting. As a school, we feel the impact of the time change as our students bodies and minds adjust to less sunlight, change in bedtimes and wake ups and less playtime outdoors. One distinct advantage of the fall back…we do get an extra hour of sleep tomorrow.
Remember to change your clocks by turning them back one hour. Another great routine to build into the falling back of time: CHANGE THE BATTERIES ON YOUR SMOKE ALARMS!
Just 21 Days Until…
March 20th…when the Spring Equinox arrives!
To help cheer spring on, I took the falling snow off our blog, added a spring photo of our school and adjusted the background colors.
Here’s to March 14…when we spring ahead to launch Daylight Savings Time and March 20th…the Spring Equinox!
The Week Ahead 11/2/09
Our first week in November brings sugar withdrawl, a time change and parent/teacher conferences. Check the schedule below for details about upcoming events…as well as your child’s classroom blog.
Due to a technical difficulties, the software responsible for our report card data crashed over the weekend. Please be patient as we all work to develop reports to share during conferences.
Teachers very much look forward to sharing your child’s progress with you at conferences. They put a great deal of time into preparing for these…and utilizing every minute of the time available. I will be using the intercom system to announce the start/end time, attempting to help keep teachers and parents punctual.
Have a great week!
