HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2014

NOTE:  School has been cancelled for Monday, January 6, 2014 due to dangerously cold conditions.  The Girls on the Run Shoe Fitting will be rescheduled—date to be determined.

While we were away, we kicked off the new year!  It is officially 2014 — and it feels like it is going to be another great year!

I hope that you had a wonderful holiday vacation with family and friends.  As we re-enter the school environment and schedule, we will be easing into our usual routines and help our students turn re-activate their learning brains.

If you are a parent of a fourth grader, remember to get ready for swimming which begins on Monday.   All school JET’S PIZZA NIGHT is Tuesday.  The week wraps up with Friday POPCORN DAY….a great way to kick off the first week of January.

Please be sure to check out your child’s class blog for updates that are specific to the classroom level.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Reagan

A New Year Calendar Year: 2013

We began our school year on September 4, 2012.   The new calendar year helps us kick off the second part of our school year and I have a feeling that 2013 will be full of good things!

I hope your holidays were filled with good times and magical memories.  My only disappointment was the lack of snow for all sledders, skiers, snowboarders, snowball throwers, etc.

As we kick the year off, I would like to remind you to keep your children home if they are ill — especially if they have a fever.  The Health Department is reporting higher than normal cases of the flu for this time of the year.  If your child has any of the following symptoms fever, cough, sore throat, headache, muscle/body aches, diarrhea PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME.  P L E A S E.

  • If your child has any of these symptoms before going to bed, plan to keep your child home.
  • If your child wakes up with these symptoms but begs to go to school, keep your child home.
  • Finally, your child must be free of any of these symptoms for 24 hours before returning to school.
Why am I being such a stickler about this?  Because we have had many, many sick kids at school this year.  Sick kids at school spread germs to healthy kids and staff — and the exposure continues to increase.   The influenza virus is very serious.    And…remember…it is not too late to get flu shots.  For more information about the flu vaccine and prevention tips, go to the health department website stickittotheflu.com.
Here’s to a great week of learning as we kick off 2013 at Georgetown!

Welcome to 2012!

We welcome in the new year with our sixteenth week of school.  As you know, we end the calendar year with holiday celebrations and performances — often feeling like we are burning the candle at both ends.  The months of January through March are wonderful for settling into the work of learning and growing together.

This will be a four day week that ends with popcorn day!  Remember to check your child’s class blog for more specific information about class events.

Here’s to a great start to the new year…and a wonderful second half of school year!

Happy New Year!

Celebrating the beginning of the new year is a tradition that has been celebrated throughout the world for hundreds of years.  The new year is celebrated with parties, special foods, making resolutions and even fireworks in some locations.  To find out more details about the history of this holiday, visit the History Channel’s website.

Whatever your traditions happen to be, I hope that your New Year has arrived in style!   I am looking forward to the second half of the school year at Georgetown.  These upcoming 5 + months are incredibly important and productive days in the school year–and a time that we typically see the most gains in learning across all grades.

Have a wonderful first weekend of 2011.

Happy New Year!

I hope you have all had a WONDERFUL and just right start to the new year.  Just like many of you, I spent the weekend putting away Christmas decorations and picking up the house.  Truly, it is hard for me to believe that another holiday season has passed by–and we are headed into 2009!

We have five months remaining of the school year, and many events & activities ahead.  I have updated our school google calendar (on the right side of this page), so that our school and PTC events are posted.

We will work to send out efficient updates on the blog and be careful not to bombard you with several emails about the same events.  Please be patient with us as we work to move to our reduced paper method of communication.

Here’s to a great start to the New Year!  Mrs. Reagan
