Many Thanks, Georgetown Parent Club!

Garden BallThroughout last week,  we were pampered by a team of parents for Staff Appreciation Week.  The week kicked off with a “star studded” breakfast which included a star walk of fame, movie feature posters (thank you, Amanda Troyer for your photographer editing skills) and delicious food.

We were also treated to lunch on Wednesday and Friday…in addition to notes of appreciation that mean more than you will ever know.   The gift cards and post-it notes were both such great surprises–and know that these will be put to good use, particularly at the end of the year when we are trying to make ends meet.

I have included a photo of the garden gazing ball that I received.  While working in my garden today, I found the ideal spot to showcase this gift.  This is the perfect gift for me…and combines my love for this school with my love for my gardens.

Thank you, parents, for all you did for us this past week…and all you do for us while we work so hard to grow your children as learners.   Mrs. Reagan and the entire Georgetown Staff

Spring Carnival Donations Needed

April 16, 2010

Dear Georgetown Families,

Georgetown Elementary in Hudsonville will be holding their annual Spring Carnival on Saturday, May 15, 2010.  This is a favorite time for Georgetown families to join together in a day of fun and fundraising.

This year all proceeds from the carnival will be donated to the Lamers Family. This is one special family that is in dire need.  Currently, the Lamers Family is financially struggling with medical expenses incurred with their son, Brodie, who has Cerebral Palsy, a paralyzing medical condition.  This family needs to make accommodations to their home as well as purchase a handicap accessible van for Brodie. In addition to Brodie, Tisha and Matthew have three children to support. In today’s economy, this has been quite a challenge.

The Parent Club would appreciate a donation from ALL of our students.

We need for all students to bring in:

Baked Goods for the Carnival Cake Walk Game: K – 2nd grades

2 Litters of Pop for the Carnival Pop Toss Game: 3rd – 5th grades

All baked goods & 2 liters of Pop should be dropped off to the school office by Friday, 05/14/2010 by 4:00 PM.

If you have cares or concerns, please contact Susie Coxen 669-3662 or Stacey Alexander 914-6896.

Thank You

PTC MEETING WITH A SPECIAL GUEST

On Tuesday, March 16, our superintendent, Nick Ceglarek, will be presenting to ourCeglarek PTC.   Mr. Ceglarek will be sharing the current goals for our district, including dealing with the challenges in state funding and planning for the upcoming building projects that are designed to accommodate our increasing enrollment. This would be an excellent meeting to attend, providing you with firsthand information about the district initiatives.

The meeting will be held in the media center at 7:00 pm. This is also our Family Night for the Book Fair from 3:30-7:00. You can do some shopping at the Book Fair and then head down the hall for the PTC meeting!  Now is the time to stock up on some great books to read during Spring Break.

PTC Board nominations for the 2010-2011 school year will also be accepted at the March 16 PTC meeting.  We would like nominations for the positions of Co-President, Vice President, Co-Treasurer, and Secretary.  We also have several committees that will need chairpersons.  Please e-mail or call any current PTC Board member if you have nominations or are interested in any position yourself.  We will be voting in the new PTC Board at our May 4 PTC meeting.
We encourage everyone, especially new families to our school, to attend and help make the decisions that will be affecting your school activities and students this year.  We hope to see you there!
