HAPPY FIRST FRIDAY OF DECEMBER!!

NEWS FROM THE OFFICE……. What a better way to bring in the month of December….SNOW on the very first day of the month AND the Holiday Gift Shop!  The Holiday Gift Shop went very well and I think we had a lot of happy shoppers. Georgetown would like to extand a HUGE “THANK YOU” to Jamie Ham and all of the parent volunteers who helped to make this Holiday Shop possible! You guys are amazing and we could not do it without all of you!   We really cannot believe this, but we can officially start the countdown to Christmas Break.  As of Monday we only have 10 school days until we are off for two full weeks.  Can you believe this??!!!

STUDENT CALL-INS……. This is just a reminder from Mrs. Nurenberg.  I am just asking a favor of all Georgetown parents!  If your student is sick or  going to be late to school please call in and leave a message on our answering machine.  Even if your child gets ill in the night, you can call and leave the message any time of day or night.  The office has been having to make MANY phone calls on a daily basis to check on students that have not been called in or the teacher is not aware of the student’s absence.  We just want you to know that we are making these calls for the safety of your children.  We want to make sure they are home safe with an adult and something has not happened to them on the way to school.  Thank you for your help with this matter!

CANDY CANE SALES…… Candy Canes will be sold from Monday, December 6th through Thursday, December 16.  The proceeds from these sales will be going to our 5th Grade students for their camp they go to in the spring.  Candy Canes will be sold everyday for $1.  Your child just needs to give their money to their teacher and they will receive their candy cane that very same day.  Thanks for helping to make 5th Grade Camp a very memorable experience!!

HOlIDAY PROGRAM… Will be NEXT THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, AT 7PM.  It will be held at Resurrection Life Church in Grandville.  Every grade EXCEPT for ECSE will be participating in this Holiday Program.

FOOD SERVICE NEWS…… New Notification System for Lunch Accounts – Starting on January 3, 2011,  any parent that has an email address on file with the Hudsonville Schools PowerSchool system will automatically receive an email notice when their child’s lunch account has a low balance.  The low balance amount is $2.00 for paid children and $.80 for reduced children.  Once your child’s account drops to either of these amounts, you will receive an email letting you know that you need to send in more money.  You will also get a notice when your child’s account has a zero or negative amount. These notifications will be sent out Monday through Friday.  If you do not want to receive these email notifications, you need to contact Stacey Wykoski at swykoski@hpseagles.net by Friday December 31 to have this feature removed from your child’s account.  Please include your child’s first name, last name and grade in the email. Please feel free to contact Stacey at 667-3352 or swykoski@hpseagles.net if you have any questions.

SNOW DAY PROCEDURE FOR HOT LUNCH………With snow just around the corner, the food service program would like to remind parents and students about what will happen if school is closed due to weather. If the district isclosed, the menu that was supposed to be served on the snow
day will be moved to the next school day. An example: if school is canceled on Tuesday due to weather, Tuesday’s menu will be served on Wednesday and the menu that was scheduled for Wednesday will be completely canceled.  Because of our computer lunch account system, there will be no need to issue credits and your student will still be able to order a lunch if they need one. The only exception to this policy is if school is canceled on Friday. In this case, Friday’s menu will be completely canceled and we will continue with the regular menu on Monday. Information on what menu will be served on the day you return will be available on the food service web page at www.jenhudfood.org. Please feel free to contact the food service department at 457-2400 if you have any questions or are unsure of what the menu will be. Thank you! -Stacey L. Wykoski, Food Service Director.
