Week 12: November 17-21, 2014

snowflakeThe 10+ inches on our playground have transformed our playground into a winter wonderland — and brings to front and center the holiday events that are quickly approaching.  And, the forecast for this week indicates there is more snow head our way!

As we prepare for the holiday season, here are some important dates to note:

  • Holiday Program:  December 2 @  FairHaven Church K-2 perform at 6:30 and Grades 3-5 perform at 7:45.  A separate blog post will be coming soon with details about the program.
  • Holiday Gift Shop:  December 3-5.  This will be held in the MEDIA CENTER.  If you would like to volunteer, please register through VOLUNTEER SPOT.   There are many spots available…so please volunteer time to help children select gifts for their family members.

Have a wonderful week!

A Chilly Week Ahead: Nov 10-17, 2014

We are coming off from a very busy week —- book fair (thank you JODY HUNT and amazing group of volunteers) and Parent/Teacher snow?Conferences.   The teachers put a tremendous amount of time into preparing for conferences — with the goal of sharing details about your child’s progress in all content areas and social/emotional growth.  Thank you for attending and supporting your child.

If you haven’t looked ahead to the forecast,  be prepared.  It’s going to be COLD — ushered in by those two horrible words, POLAR VORTEX.

Please label the inside of your child’s winter clothes with your last name to help us keep our lost and found more FOUND than lost.  It’s also not a bad idea to take a photo of your kids winter clothing so you can help them relocate the items if they land in lost and found—or at least job their memory about what they lost!

Have a great week…stay warm!

News from the office….

Happy November!! Halloween is done and Christmas music is on the radio! Talk about scary!! The Halloween parties went well and the kids had a great time! Thank you again to all the parents that were here to help out! The first book fair also was a huge success! Thanks to Jody Hunt for all the time she put in to organizing it and also to the parents that stepped up to the plate to make the event possible. Parent teacher conferences also went well and the meal the parents provided for this was GREATLY appreciated!! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

News from Food Service….

SNOW DAY PROCEDURE FOR HOT LUNCH ~ With snow just around the corner, the food service program would like to remind parents and students about what will happen if school is closed due to weather. If the district is closed, the menu that was supposed to be served on the snow day will be moved to the next school day.  An example: if school is canceled on Tuesdaydue to weather, Tuesday’s menu will be served on Wednesday and the menu that was scheduled for Wednesday will be completely canceled.  Because of our computer lunch account system, there will be no need to issue credits and your student will still be able to order a lunch if they need one. The only exception to this policy is if school is canceled on Friday. In this case, Friday’smenu will be completely canceled and we will continue with the regular menuon Monday.  Information on what menu will be served on the day you return will be available on Twitter or the foodservice web page at www.jenhudfood.org. Please feel free to contact the food service department at 457-2400 if you have any questions or are unsure of what the menu will be.  Stacey L. Wykoski, Food Service Director

WEEK 10: November 3-7

It’s November … and we kick the month off with an extra hour of sleep and Parent/Teacher Fall Conferences.  We’re looking forward to meeting with parents this week.   Teachers spend hours preparing each student’s conference so that the 15 minute period is productive and focused.   I will call time over the school intercom to help everyone stay on time.

Before or after your conference, feel free to visit the Book Fair in the library.   Many thanks to Jody Hunt and the many volunteers for making this event possible.

Highlights of the week’s events are posted below.  Remember…Jet’s Pizza Nights are Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
