Be Nice • Be Safe • Be an UPSTANDER!

This week, we concluded our BE NICE • BE  SAFE Anti-Bullying lessons.  These lessons are taught during the first few weeks of school —  a focus on understanding what it ‘looks like’ and ‘sounds like’ to be nice and safe at school:  playground, hallway, classroom, lunchroom, bathroom and the school bus.

Classroom discussions are differentiated based on grade.  All lessons highlight the need to recognize and understand when rough play leads to hurtful words or actions — and how to step back and stop when you are part of this.  We teach the difference between a bystander and UPSTANDER.  An upstander stands up, speaks up and teams up to help others when they are being treated poorly.
