Happy Fourth of July!

The 4th of July is a national holiday that celebrates our independence from England, both during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. To learn more about the holiday (history and traditions), visit the links below.  Larry Ferlazzo, a teacher from California, shared these links on his outstanding blog–one of my favorites to follow.

Wishing all of you a happy Fourth of July weekend–one that is filled with great times with friends and family!

Martin Luther King, Jr.

MLKWe remember many historical events throughout the year with national holidays.  The third Monday in January honors Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is the day that we remember him for his civil rights leadership and a time to learn about the importance of traits of  equality, compassion and understanding.

One way to celebrate and honor Martin Luther King Jr is through a community service project.

Kaboose, an online Disney website, provides family friendly ways to talk about and discuss MLK’s work.
