NEWS FROM THE ADMINISTRATION OFFICE

The Hudsonville Public Schools Board of Education recently selected the Michigan Association of School Boards to conduct their search for the district’s new superintendent.

Residents of the district are encouraged to participate in the process by attending an open forum conducted by a MASB representative on Tuesday, March 10, 7:00 p.m., at Park Elementary, 5525 Park Avenue, Hudsonville, MI 49426.

The MASB representative will provide an overview of the search process and receive input from community members regarding the criteria to be used in evaluating candidates.

If you are unable to attend, a letter or card listing ideas and viewpoints about characteristics and competencies of a superintendent may be sent to Superintendent Search Services, Michigan Association of School Boards, 1001 Centennial Way, Suite 400, Lansing, MI  48917 by March 10, 2009.

I Think this is it for now!

Enjoy your cold and snowy weekend!

Dan Hoover, Our Favorite Eagle Scout!

Dan Hoover is a student at Hudsonville High School.  He contacted me in the early winter inquiring about the possibility of completing a service project for our school.  This project would count toward his work toward becoming an Eagle Scout.  Dan and I discussed several options and landed on the need for student mailboxes.  Many of our teachers use cardboard shoe storage boxes–and these do not last more than two years. Dan measured the cardboard boxes and left with a plan to create sturdy wood mailboxes for two of our classrooms.

We were pleasantly surprised when Dan arrived at the beginning of this month with well crafted, sturdy and attractive mailboxes for two classrooms.  Mrs. Woodring and Ms. Burmeister were the lucky recipients!

Thank you so much, Dan–for your time, work and talents.  We wish you luck as an Eagle Scout!

Top Secret Shopping….Shhh!

If you happen to walk by our media center this week, you might do a double take.  Through the windows, you will see tables covered with many different types of gifts — ranging from Eagle’s gear to jewelry to toys, etc.  The room has been transformed into a department store!  Students have been shopping all week, searching for the just right gifts for special people in their lives.  This event is made possible by our Parent Club, and it is an absolutely invaluable service.  Sincere thanks to Jamie Ham for organizational talents, and the many warm hearted parents who assist these very important shoppers.  **Note:  The gifts in the photos below have been blurred out to prevent parents from snooping!
