It is with great sadness that I share with you the death of Doug Mesman, father of Connor Mesman.  Connor is a fourth grade student at Georgetown.
Doug will be greatly missed by his wife Darlynn and their only child, Connor.  Visitation will be held at the Cook Funeral Home in Jenison (1889 Baldwin St.) on Monday from 5-8 pm.  A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Tuesday, 7/17 at 11 am at Fellowship Reformed Church (6610 36th St., Hudsonville, MI 49426).  A second visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Expressions of Sympathy can be mailed to:  Darlynn and Connor Mesman, 7568 Hidden Forest DR, Hudsonville MI 49426
Donations to the family for support will be handled through our Georgetown PTC.  All donations will be gifted to Darlynn Mesman who can then determine how best to use the money for support.  If you would like to donate:
  • Make checks payable to Georgetown PTC.
  • Please note on bottom left of check:  Mesman Family.

Old to You…New to US!

All of the public schools in Michigan are operating under a budget created for the school year 2005.   To make ends meet, we have reduced our operating budget by 40%.

As a school, we have are going through drawers and closets at home and school to help make ends meet.

We are desperately in need of some items for our playground and classrooms.  If you can donate any of these gently used materials to us, we would be SO APPRECIATIVE!

  • RECESS BALLS:  FOOTBALLS, BASKETBALLS, KICK BALLS, SOCCER BALLS
  • DVD PLAYERS:  FOR USE IN OUR CLASSROOMS TO PROJECT MEDIA PROJECTS TO THE PROJECTOR AND TV.
In the category of NEW items:
  • CONSUMABLES such as KLEENEX, HAND SANITIZER and BAND AIDS.
THANK YOU FOR ANY ITEMS YOU CAN DONATE!
Mrs. Reagan and the entire Georgetown Team

Your Old Stuff Can Be Our New Stuff!

You may have heard that our school budget is squeaky tight…just like many of your home budgets.

Even though it is 2011, we are operating on per student funding for the 2005 school year.  We are doing more with less and spending more of our own money on consumable items like bandaids, hand sanitizer, pencils, pen, post it notes, and kleenex.

If you would ever care to send in consumable items like those listed above, your child’s teacher would probably do somersaults of joy!

We are also in need of a some gently used equipment that would help us immensely with instruction and play.  Please go through your home or your neighbor’s (although I do endorse knocking first) and see if you find any of the following to send our way:

DVD Players:  Ours are burning out.  We are in need of two to help teacher project their videos to the screen or tv.

Tripod:  We are need of two.  We video tape lessons and review these with one another (teachers) and we also share these with students who are home sick for many days.

RECESS BALLS:  Footballs, kick balls, soccer balls, basketballs.  BALLS!  We need balls for our playgrounds so that our children are happy!

Thank you for ANY ITEMS you can donate to help us during these tight times.

Mrs. Reagan (who also loves anything chocolate)

Spring Carnival Donations Needed

April 16, 2010

Dear Georgetown Families,

Georgetown Elementary in Hudsonville will be holding their annual Spring Carnival on Saturday, May 15, 2010.  This is a favorite time for Georgetown families to join together in a day of fun and fundraising.

This year all proceeds from the carnival will be donated to the Lamers Family. This is one special family that is in dire need.  Currently, the Lamers Family is financially struggling with medical expenses incurred with their son, Brodie, who has Cerebral Palsy, a paralyzing medical condition.  This family needs to make accommodations to their home as well as purchase a handicap accessible van for Brodie. In addition to Brodie, Tisha and Matthew have three children to support. In today’s economy, this has been quite a challenge.

The Parent Club would appreciate a donation from ALL of our students.

We need for all students to bring in:

Baked Goods for the Carnival Cake Walk Game: K – 2nd grades

2 Litters of Pop for the Carnival Pop Toss Game: 3rd – 5th grades

All baked goods & 2 liters of Pop should be dropped off to the school office by Friday, 05/14/2010 by 4:00 PM.

If you have cares or concerns, please contact Susie Coxen 669-3662 or Stacey Alexander 914-6896.

Thank You
