Holiday Program Makes for A Busy Week

We kick off the four week countdown to the holidays with our annual holiday music performance.   If you haven’t read the post with the date and times of the TWO PERFORMANCES, click here.

There is ample seating for all—and the performance will also be video taped (DVD’s available for purchase) and shown on WCET.

Remember…Marco’s Pizza Night on Wednesday.

Have a great week!

Week 17: Will it feel like March or January?

Ahhhh….Michigan weather is so unpredictable and confounding.  During our first week of January, we had three days that were sunny and warm enough to be mistaken for early March.

I am not sure what the weather will bring for our second week and I wish you great luck in dressing your children for school each morning!   I remember the days of convincing my children that they needed to wear boots, mittens and hats as the snow was rapidly disappearing from the grassy areas.

My best advice is this:  Even thought the snow is melting, the playground is wet and the grassy areas muddy so wear those boots.  The wind whips through our playground areas, so mittens and a hat are must haves for outdoor wear at Georgetown.

It won’t be long and a good ol’ fashioned winter storm will arrive to remind us how important our winter accessories are in our lives.

A snapshot of the week ahead is below.  Remember, JET’S PIZZA NIGHT is TUESDAY!  I can’t wait to find out which class will win pizza for lunch from Jet’s.  Many thanks to the PTC and Mr. Cecchini for making this possible.

The Week Ahead: January 17-21, 2011

The week ahead features Play to Learn, our OAISD group for preschool children and their parents.

In addition, our Marco’s Pizza Nights are being offered over two nights–and feature pizza boxes decorated by your children!   If you have a child in grades K-2, order on January 18.  If you have a child in grades 3-5, order on January 19.   For those of you who have children in both grades, it is your choice when to order!

Do you have a pre-kindergartener or kindergartener for the next school year?  If so, you will want to get March 8 on your calendar!  We will be holding our PK/K meeting to inform parents of the options for the 2011-12 school year.  This blog post includes links to the PK/K registration and curriculum program.

Please pass this information along to any neighbors with young children that need to be aware of the meeting!

The Week Ahead: April 26, 2010

I simply cannot believe that we are entering the final week of April.  All of a sudden, it feels like the school year is moving at the speed of light.

We will begin the serious and important work of class placements for next year on May 1.  If you have not completed the Child Profile Form, please do so as soon as possible.  This information is so critical for our placement work.  The process was explained in an earlier post, which you may want to check out.  So far, over 200 parents have completed the online form.  (These forms do not need to be completed for current 5th grade students because they are moving onto Baldwin Middle School.)

Here’s to a fabulous week!

Weekly Events: April 19, 2010

If there was a time of the year to follow the blogs (school and classroom) it is now.  There are many events that take place during the final weeks of school—and details about most of these can be found on our websites.

Mrs. Nurenberg posts BLOG BITs each Friday to give you a snapshot of important events coming up that are school wide, grade focused and community ed based.  In addition, a picture shot of the school google calendar is posted at the beginning of each week.

If you have any questions about a school, parent club or classroom based event, do not hesitate to get in touch with us via email, blog comment or phone call.

Here’s to a great week ahead!  Mrs. Reagan
