The Week Ahead: September 4-7, 2012
Each weekend, I will post a snapshot of the week ahead…highlighting big events that take place.
Individual classroom events are featured on teacher blogs–be sure to scroll to your child’s class (links to blogs found on the left) for updates on weekly activities.
As you can see below, our first week ends with the annual Hudsonville Education Foundation Family Fun Fest. This will be held at Eagle’s Stadium and includes face painting, drawings for big prizes and a DUNK TANK. At 4:30 pm, three Georgetown teachers will be in the dunk tank (Mrs. Burdis, Mr. Kooiker and Mr. Jurewicz). Please come and get them wet!
Remember to wear your blue and gold EAGLE clothing on Friday. This will be a fun way to wrap up our first week together.
Important details for the first day: Children can be on the playground between 8:30 and 8:45. NO EARLIER.
- First bell rings at 8:45 am.

for school to begin? The staff at Georgetown Elementary is very busy getting ready for all of YOU!
Please plan to attend one of these open houses:

Parents: Please get a head start on the HEALTH FORMS if your child needs prescription or over the counter meds at school. Go to the tab above DATES and FORMS and click on MEDICAL FORMS. Print these off at home and bring the form to school with the meds. Be sure to have your doctor sign forms for prescription meds. We cannot accept medication that is not accompanied by the proper form.
Under this tab you can also find a link to the year long school calendar (vacations, etc.) as well as other important information.
To find out staff emails and phone extensions, visit the ABOUT OUR SCHOOL tab above. Each teacher has contact information listed on their class blogs which are available along the left sidebar of this blog.
Before you leave, sign up for email updates to the top right. We communicate all events through the blog and email. We do not want you to miss out on any information this year.
We are looking forward to seeing you next week during the open houses and on the first day of school, September 4.
School begins at 8:5o each day. School ends at 3:40 pm each day.
Welcome New Kindergarteners!
If you have a child who is ready to enter kindergarten (must be five years old by December 1 of 2013), please join us at Kindergarten Round Up on March 6 @ 7 pm in the Georgetown Multi-Purpose Room. This meeting is for parents only. A special open house will be held in late August for the children.
The parent meeting will last approximately 30 minutes. You will receive information about registration and the curriculum program for all day/every day kindergarten (held at Georgetown) and full day/alternate day pre-kindergarten, held at Bauer Elementary.
This is a special video I created with the help of current kindergarteners to help welcome new kindergarteners to school. Enjoy!
Welcome New Kinders!
PK and K Round Up is occurring throughout our district today. The schedule for these meetings is as follows:
Georgetown will hold it’s meeting at 7 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. There will be the option to attend a day time program at 10 am (held at Alward or South. The material will be the same for all schools.
If you cannot attend this meeting, simply stop by our school office to pick up the packet of information shared at Round Up as well as all of the registration information.
Our current PK and K students would like to welcome all the new students to our building next year. In this short video, they offer tips on how to make friends, the school rules and much more. Enjoy!
