BLOG BITS 2/22/13

Happy Friday Georgetown Parents!

NEWS FROM THE OFFICE……..  Really can you believe our luck?!  Another 4 day week this week and we have a 4 day week next week too!  I think if I am correct that makes for 6 weeks in a row we will have had 4 day weeks!  I am not sure how we are going to handle a 5 day week!  Over all things are pretty quiet here at Georgetown as is usually is this time of year.  Hold on tight though, after Spring Break has come and gone things really seem to fly by!  Before you know it I will start the countdown to Spring Break and then not long after that the countdown to the end of the school year!!  Please remember that Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up soon and we love to see all of our parents make it to these.

YEARBOOKS……. if you did not order one for your student (you would have ordered it when you ordered pictures) we do a few extras for sale here in the office.  They are $10 each.  You may pay with a check, just make it payable to “Georgetown PTC”.  Thank you.  These extras will be available on a first come, first serve basis and we will not hold them.  Students may bring the money to the office.  : )

KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP/PACKETS………… time is here!  Round-Up will be held next Tuesday, February 26 at 7 pm here at Georgetown.  Packets are available in the office to pick up if you would like to do so before Tuesday.  Please remember when turning in the Registration form for Kindergarten you must also have your child’s ORIGINAL birth certificate (not the one from the hospital and yes we will copy it for you), immunization records and they must have their hearing and vision checked.  If they have an appointment for the immunizations and the vision/hearing coming up that is fine to bring us these forms at a later date.  Hope to see a lot of you on Tuesday evening.  : )

BLOG BITS 01/25/13

Happy Friday afternoon Georgetown Parents!

NEWS FROM THE OFFICE……… Wow, was that not cool to have a snow day this week?!  I absolutely love them and hopefully we can possibly squeak out one more this year!  One day this week we had to have inside recess because of the temperatures, but we love it when the kids can go out and play.  Just as a reminder on how we determine whether it will be outside/inside recess……. we log on to Wood TV8’s website and they have a weather station right next door at Daybreak Church.  This tells us the temperature and wind chill.  The ONLY time the students stay inside is when the windchill is BELOW ZERO.  We monitor this in the morning and before every recess, so please just make sure your kids have the appropriate outdoor wear for recess.

We still seem to be having an issue with a lot of tardy students in the morning.  Please, we are asking on your part that you get your students to school on time when you are dropping them off.  If they arrive late from the bus, this is not marked as a tardy.  As a reminder the first bell rings at 8:45am and the second bell at 8:50am, which is when the students should be settled in their class.  When students are on time this makes attendance MUCH easier for the teachers AND the  office.  Thank you.

KINDERGARTEN PACKETS/ROUND UP………..  We now have Kindergarten packets available in the office to pick up.  Kindergarten Round Up will be held atGeorgetown on Tuesday, February 26 at 7pm.  Please remember that it is NOT a first come/first serve basis as far as turning in your registrations.  We will not be holding PK at Georgetown next year.  Our students that request PK will be going to Bauer.  Your child should be 5 on or before NOVEMBER 1 this year to enter EITHER PK or Kindergarten.  IF your child turns 5 between NOVEMBER 2 AND DECEMBER 1you will need to fill out a WAIVER in order for them to attend PK or K.  These WAIVERS will be attached to the Kindergarten registrations.  You ONLY need to fill out the waiver if your child turns 5 BETWEEN the dates of NOVEMBER 2 AND DECEMBER 1, 2013.

BLOG BITS 11/30/12

BLOG BITS 11/30/12………  Happy Last Friday of November!

NEWS FROM THE OFFICE……….  I cannot believe I just said that it is the last Friday in November!  So here we go with the count down until Christmas Break……..15 school days!  Holy Toledo, hold on tight the holidays will be here before we know it and kids will be home for 2 fun filled weeks of vacation.  We hope all of you enjoyed the Holiday program this week.  The students did an amazing job, as did the music teachers.  It seems nice to have the program behind us and the kids can just relax and enjoy their friends and their holiday parties now before Christmas break.  If you want to watch this on WCET, the viewing times are in this post.

STUDENT EARLY PICK-UP……….  In regards to students getting picked up early for appointments, etc. we are going to be doing things a little differently here in the office.  Please STILL continue to send a note to the teacher informing them that you will picking up your student early.  This will help to ensure that the students are ready for pick up.  However, as far as the office goes we WILL NOT call the student down to the office until you are here to sign them out.  We have just been seeing more that we call the student down and then they are not picked up on time and they end up missing more of their instructional time in class.  Our suggestion to you as parents is to arrive 5-10 minutes early to ensure that you leave on time with your student.  Thank you.

Walkathon Pool Party 2012

The top money earners from our fall Walkathon skipped school on Thursday to swim in my pool!  It was a fabulous day of cannon ball jumps, squirt gun fights, relay races and much more.

We ate lunch and had ice cream and popsicles–all pool side.  The hot sun made  for big time splashing!  Many thanks to our PTC for organizing the WALKATHON and making events such as this possible.

Enjoy this slideshow!  Maybe you’ll be a winner next year!
