Breakfast at School

[scheduled monthly=”7″ time=”09:00 AM” length=”0:0:10:0″][/scheduled]Did you know that we serve breakfast at school between 8:20 and 9 am?  Mrs. Stacey, one of our classroom instructional assistants and lunchroom supervisors, serves juice and cold cereal each school day in the multi-purpose room.

Breakfast is available to all children and part of our food service program.  Parents can pre-pay for breakfast by visiting the FOOD SERVICE LINK.

If your child is eating breakfast at school, tell them to enter at the front door or the 2/3 door.  They go directly to the Lunch Room/MPR and after eating, they will be dismissed to the playground or their classrooms.

Mystery Teacher Tour

There are many teachers on our staff (36) and in addition to these wonderful people, we have over 30 staff members who work together to support learning.

To help you get to know some of these people, each blog will feature a MYSTERY TEACHER.  The post will show a photo of just a portion of the mystery person along with interesting clues about this persons interests and life.  See if you can guess who each person is before you see the photo showing their smiling face and sparkling eyes!

Visit each blog by clicking on the classroom names to the left of this post. If the Mystery Teacher post is not on the main page, you can type the words “mystery teacher” into the search area and the post should pop up for you to read.

I had a very special new teacher that I wrote about.  Be sure to visit the post by clicking on:  What is your favorite sound?

What is your favorite sound?

Georgetown is a very special place that is growing and changing all the time!  Each year, we welcome new teachers and new students.  During our before school meeting days, I met with a new teacher to our building and learned a few special things about her.   Read these clues and see if you can figure out who she might be.

  • As a child, she loved to eat pizza.
  • Her favorite color is green.
  • She loves the sound of waves.
  • If she could learn to do anything, she would learn how to drive a stick shift!   Why does she want to learn how to drive a stick shift?  Because all the cool sports cars have stick shifts.
  • If she wrote a story about herself, it would be called, “God Has a Sense of Humor.”

Who is this person?  Her name is Mrs. VanHaitsma, our new teacher for English Language Learners.

All 28 of our classroom blogs introduce you to a mystery person.  Click on any of the blogs  to the left to see if the clues and the photos help you to learn more about the staff members in our building.  Our school blog can be found by clicking on this link:  GEORGETOWN BLOG

Summer Fun with Molly and Lucy

The summer flew by because I was trying to keep up with my busy little girls! The heat never phased them and Lucy insisted on spending as much time as possible “ahside” (outside) on her “sings” (swing).

Our little trooper Molly kept right up with her big sister and squeals with delight every time we head out :)

Besides going outside, we also snuck away a few times to Grandma and Grandpa’s cabin by the lake where Lucy “caught” her first fish-with a lot of help from Grandpa. Molly decided that for now she prefers to stay dry on the boat and the lake is just not for her.

I have had fun with my family…and I can’t wait for school to begin, too!   Mrs. Boes

Go Ahead…Celebrate S’more!

Did you know today is National S’more Day?  Quick….run out to the nearest grocery store and pick up a package of graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows.

If you don’t have a fire pit to roast your marshmallows, you can make these in your microwave.

Mr. Bowen, one of our teachers, is one of the very best s’more makers around!  In honor of him and this fabulous summer treat, HAPPY S’MORE DAY TO YOU AND YOURS!

Jumping with STYLE!

The Wolma and Irish families vacationed together in the Upper Peninsula this summer.  The photo below is a group shot of all six children jumping from a dock on Dutch Fred Lake.  Not only do they look excited to get into the water, they all jump with height, style and enthusiasm!

I have never been to the UP (it’s on my ‘get to know Michigan to do list’), so I had to google the location of this lake to satisfy my own curiosity.  Dutch Fred Lake is in the town of Seney, which is in the northern section of the UP (directly north from the bridge).  Dutch Fred Lake looks like the perfect location to stay allowing short trips to Pictured Rocks, the southern shore of Lake Superior and a variety of fishing spots.  I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in this area.

Thank you for sharing a bit of Michigan with us…..as well as your great jump into the lake!

Mrs. Reagan

The Poisson Travels

The Poisson family has ttruly enjoyed this summer.  We kicked it off with a trip to the Wildlife Safari Park near Toledo, Ohio.  The kids got to enjoy a drive through zoo.  The buffalo was a bit scary.

Kayleigh, Tyler, and Trevor got to go to Kentucky and stay with some friends, where they went to the Cincinnati Zoo.

We have especially enjoyed the lakes.  We’ve been to Lake Erie, Lake Michigan, Bass Lake in Traverse City, The Grand Traverse Bay, Duck Lake in Muskegon, and Higgins Lake in Roscommon.

We have enjoyed Michigan Adventure a few times and we took a trip to Monroe for a family party.  We also squeezed in a trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes where the kids climbed to the very top!

The kids are looking forward to starting school, again, despite our many adventures!  This fall, Kayleigh will be in Mr. Jurewicz’s class,  Trevor in Mr. Bialochowski and Tyler in Mrs. Burdis’ class.

….and Mrs. Reagan is looking forward to seeing all of them!
