Last year, we worked district wide to create curriculum maps for each content area across all grades. These serve as our road map for teaching and instruction and ensure that we are meeting the targeted goals for learning.

Kindergarten Round-Up meetings will be held for parents on Tuesday, March 9. The meeting will offer parents information in preparation of your child entering Kindergarten Overview K current or Pre-Kindergarten Overview PK current in the Fall. The locations and times of the meetings are as follows:
Alward Elementary – 10 a.m. OR 7 p.m.
Bauer Elementary – 7 p.m. only
Georgetown Elementary – 7 p.m. only
Forest Grove Elementary – 7 p.m. only
Jamestown Elementary – 10 a.m. OR 7 p.m.
Park Elementary – 7 p.m. only
South Elementary – 10 a.m. OR 7 p.m.
Due to larger turnouts for our evening Round-Up meetings the past few years, we decided to offer a day time Round-Up meeting in three locations. We encourage parents from other buildings to attend those locations if the day time meetings work best for you. The same information will be given at each location. Please drop off your completed enrollment information to your child’s school. Screening is required for children turning 5 years old between June 1 – December 1, 2010. Appointments can be scheduled when you turn in your child’s enrollment form.
It is hard to believe that we are getting ready for our newest group of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. It is time for us to get the word out about enrolling children for the 2010-1011 school year. 
If you have a child that will be in PK or K next year, please mark your calendar for March 9, 2010. There will be the option to attend a day time program at 10 am (held at Alward, South or Jamestown). The material will be the same for all schools, simply held at these locations for those that must attend during the day.
If you know a neighbor who has an upcoming PK or K child, please encourage them to complete the registration information and health appraisal form. These forms are turned into the school office.

Our district has one of the most talented and creative and efficient secretaries on this side of the equator. Her name is Jan Mullennix. She has been the secretary to the Ass’t Superintendent of Curriculum for many years–and without her, we would be lost!
Jan takes all the thinking that teams of teachers do and shapes it into wonderful curriculum tools that look smart and attractive. She just completed full revisions of our grade level brochures. These will be available at the open houses and you can also view them online.
