Friday update from Mr. Lawrence

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Matthew Lawrence and I won principal for half the day. I was the top bidder for the silent auction for this item.  (THANKS MOM AND DAD!)

Please know that the fourth graders got of on their field trip. Because of the rain we had to make arrangements for them to go to a Youth Group Activity Center at Christ Memorial Church.  It was a crazy start to the day, but we all worked together to figure it out.

Mrs. Reagan had me introduce myself to the school at 9:15.  I used the school intercom service for this.  I signed all the purchase requisitions, uploaded camp photos (Mrs. Reagan visited yesterday) and learned how to use the 2 way radio.

At 10:10, I called into Miss VanArkel’s classroom to call a 1o minute indoor recess.  I figured that if I am a third grader in this room and the principal, that the class should have some fun, too.

I have to now go to put postings for new teaching positions on the staff board.  None of these are for our school, but they have to be posted at all the schools.

Have a good day and Happy Friday!

Mr.  Lawrence

Our 5th Graders Are…

…off to Camp Pinewood! It was a beautiful day to kick off 5th grade camp!  If you were near Georgetown between 9-9:30 am, you saw students checking in their bags and counting down the seconds to head north to camp.

The forecast is beautiful for the three days of activities and adventures.  The focus of the camp experience is on the core values of respect, responsibility, caring and honesty. Children discover new facts about the natural world around them, but more importantly, they learn about themselves, other students and adults.

Many thanks to everyone who supported this experience by purchasing items that helps to fund the camp fee for all our 5th grade students.

Each writer’s story is published in a class anthology (collection) that is available for purchase (shipped directly to your home) or free download.  To see these books, visit this JUST WRITE LULU.COM link or simply click on the lulu logo on the top left sidebar.

The Week Ahead: May 17, 2010

Is the calendar correct?  Are there really just 18 days of school remaining?  Just four weeks?  It seems like the year just began and we are talking about wrap up activities to close out 2009-2010.   If you look at the snapshot of our calendar below, you will see that there are many field trips taking place — and it is the week of 5th grade camp!  Here’s to a great week ahead.
